Ammonium (-)-3-bromo-8-camphorsulfonate is bromocamphor solutions use in optically resolutions.
Purification Methods
Pass a hot aqueous solution of it through an alumina column to remove water-soluble coloured impurities which remain on the column when the ammonium salt is eluted with hot water. The salt is crystallised from water and dried over CaCl2 in a desiccator [Craddock & Jones J Am Chem Soc 84 1098 1962, Kauffmann J Prakt Chem 33 295 1966].
