N-Lauroyl-N-methyltaurine Sodium Salt is used in skin cleansing products containing combinations of anionic and nonionic surfactants and detergents.

It is prepared from methyldecanoate (at 180o under N2) or decanoyl chloride and sodium N-methylethane sulfonate and purified by dissolving it in H2O and precipitating by addition of Et2O.
