Colorless liquid. Almost insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils.

The Uses of PHENYL FORMATE

Phenyl formate is widely used in the palladium-catalyzed carbonylation of aryl, alkenyl and allyl halides. It is also used as a reagent for the formylation of amines.

Production Methods

Phenyl formate can be produced by cold formulation of Phenol.
