The Uses of Ephedrine sulfate

(-)-erythro-Ephedrine Sulfate is the sulfate salt of the α- and β-adrenergic agonist Ephedrine. (-)-erythro-Ephedrine is a sympathomimetic amine with stimulant properties. (-)-erythro-Ephedrine Sulfate is a bronchodilator used in the treatment of asthma.

White microcrystalline powder. Odorless. Central nervous system stimulant.

Water soluble.

Reactivity Profile

Aqueous solution are slightly acidic. Ephedrine sulfate is incompatible with strong oxidizers.

Safety Profile

Poison by intravenous, intraperitoneal, and subcutaneous routes. Moderately toxic by ingestion. Human systemic effects by intravenous route: increased pulse rate and blood pressure. When heated to decomposition it emits very toxic fumes of NOx and SOx. See also EPHEDRINE.
