The Uses of Diacetone-D-glucose
1,2:5,6-Di-O-isopropylidene-α-D-glucofuranose is a compound useful in organic synthesis.
Purification Methods
Diacetone-D-glucose crystallises from Et2O, (needles), pet ether or *C6H6 and sublimes in vacuo. It is soluble in 7 volumes of H2O and 200 volumes of pet ether at their boiling points. The solubility in H2O at 17.5o is 4.3%. It precipitates from aqueous solutions on basification with NaOH.
