What is turkesterone?

Description

Turkesterone is an extract from the ajuga turkestanica plant which looks similar to thistle and is native to Siberia, Asia, and Eastern Europe. Turkesterone itself is a highly concentrated type of ecdysterone which is a class of naturally occurring compounds which are similar in effects and chemical structure to androgens but with less potency and much greater safety profiles.
In addition to its ability to support male hormones and recovery from resistance training Turkesterone is believed to have other benefits including supporting healthy blood glucose management and liver health.

The Uses of turkesterone

Turkesterone is a phytoecdysteroid that was shown to have a hypoglycemic effect and an anti stress activity in mice.

Definition

ChEBI: Turkesterone is a steroid.

Benefits

There are 5 main benefits of turkesterone.
Similar results to steroids without the androgenic effects
The main reason people use turkesterone is that it has similar growth results to typical (and banned) steroids without the typical androgenic effects. This may make it safer and more accessible to a wider amount of people.
No cycle therapy needed
Because turkesterone is not a steroid – you do not have to do a post-cycle therapy recovery like you would have to do with typical steroid.
Turkesterone Improves muscle growth
Probably. Some users have reported up to 10lbs of muscle gained! While that's a lot, and should be taken with a grain of salt, the research tentatively seems to back this up (even if not to such extremes).
We're collecting more data on this on a daily basis, so if you have a case study you'd like to share, please send it in.
Improved insulin sensitivity
Improved insulin sensitivity is correlated with multiple positive health outcomes including better fasting glucose levels and the next item – which people care quite a bit about.
Improved body composition
Due to the muscle growth and insulin sensitivity, many people report improved physiques after taking Turkesterone and seeing an increase in positive body composition and decrease in body fat.

Biological Functions

Turkesterone in a highly concentrated form is an ecdysterone. An ecdysterone is a sterol, a naturally occurring substance in all plant and animal life, and a subgroup of steroids. Steroids are organic compounds, and not the same thing as anabolic steroids which cause abnormal muscle building. Many people believe that Turkesterone supplements actually help the body return to a naturally balanced state, thus improving the immune system.

Biological Activity

Turkesterone is a potent ecdysteroid. Turkesterone acts as an ecdysteroid receptor (EcR) agonist in some insect systems.

Side Effects

Turkesterone is well tolerated and we have found no studies on Turkesterone where adverse side effects were reported. That said anecdotal reports of side effects have been received and these include lethargy, diarrhea, mild headaches, and nausea. These side effects are more likely at higher doses so we do not recommend exceeding 4 capsules (1000 mg) per day.
