Sodium L-ascorbyl-2-phosphate Structural

What is Sodium L-ascorbyl-2-phosphate?

Description

Sodium L-ascorbyl-2-phosphate has been used as medium supplement in Dulbecco′s Modified Eagle Medium (DMEM) for adipose-derived stem cells, human mesenchymal stem cells and osteoblast cells.

The Uses of Sodium L-ascorbyl-2-phosphate

Sodium L-ascorbyl-2-phosphate is a stable and long-lasting vitamin C derivative. It may be used in cell differentiation and tissue engineering applications, such as the repression of dihydrotestosterone-induced dickkopf-1 expression. It exhibits synergistic protection of hMSCs under oxidative stress in combination with N-acetylcysteine. It could increase myogenin gene expression and promote differentiation in L6 muscle cells. It is also used in biocatalytic dephosphorylation for electric power generation and electrochemical detection assays. Sodium L-ascorbyl-2-phosphate is an important antioxidant and whitening agent, involved in various reactions in the body. It has the functions of promoting collagen production, maintaining skin elasticity, blocking melanin synthesis, clearing free radicals, preventing skin inflammation and photoaging.

What are the applications of Application

2-Phospho-L-ascorbic acid trisodium salt is a long-lasting vitamin C derivative used in studies of gene repression

Flammability and Explosibility

Non flammable

Biochem/physiol Actions

L-Ascorbic acid 2-phosphate (AA2P) is used in biocatalytic dephosphorylation for electric power generation and electrochemical detection assays. L-Ascorbic acid 2-phosphate may be used in cell differentiation and tissue engineering applications. Asc-2P is used in studies of gene repression, such as the repression of dihydrotestosterone-induced dickkopf-1 expression.

Benefits

Sodium L-ascorbyl-2-phosphate, once applied, is cleaved to release free ascorbic acid by the enzymes in the skin, which (ascorbic acid) brings about all the benefits which the action is known to offer.
Anti-acne benefits: This is one of the unique properties of this activity. It reduces both the inflammatory and non-inflammatory lesions of acne vulgaris. It brings about such effects by inhibiting the lipid peroxidation of sebum, which is the driving force behind cosmogenesis and inflammation in acne.
Photo-protective properties: Like other vitamin C preparations, this also helps in scavenging the free radicals that could have been generated on sun exposure. Doing so prevents the free radical-induced DNA damage and protects the cells from solar injury.
Neo-collagenases: They help cross-link collagen fibres and build new collagen fibres.
Skin lightening / depigmenting properties: It inhibits the enzyme tyrosinase, which is an enzyme required in the synthesis of melanin. Melanin is the pigment that imparts colour to our skin. It also offers photoprotection against UV-induced skin darkening. However, this property is less pronounced in comparison with other forms of topical vitamin C.
