What is Ethylurea?
Chemical properties
white to beige crystals
The Uses of Ethylurea
N-Ethylurea, is a versatile building block, that can be used in organic synthesis of various pharmaceutical and biologically active compounds, as Nitrogen and Carbonyl source.
Safety Profile
Mddly toxic by parenteral route. Experimental reproductive effects. Mutation data reported. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of NOx.
Purification Methods
Crystallise the urea from EtOH/water, then dry it under vacuum at room temperature. [Beilstein 4 IV 369.]
