The Uses of Dipropyl succinate

Alkyl succinates have been used as ashless dispersants and detergent additives for lubricating oils.

Preparation

Dipropyl succinate is produced by direct esterification of n-Propanol with Succinic acid e. g. under azeotropic conditions.
