4,6-Dihydroxy-5-methoxypyrimidine can be uses as an intermediate of sulfa-o-dimethoxypyrimidine.
Synthesis
4,6-Dihydroxy-5-methoxypyrimidine is obtained by cyclization of methylethyl methoxymalonate with formamide and sodium methoxide to generate disodium 5-methoxy-4,6-dihydroxypyrimidine, and then acidified.
