What is ZIRCONIUM BROMIDE?
Chemical properties
-40 mesh with 99.8% purity; a yellowish or grayish white powder(s); cub, a =1.095 nm [KIR84] [STR93] [CER91]
The Uses of ZIRCONIUM BROMIDE
Zirconium(IV) bromide is used as a starting material in the synthesis of zirconium hydride complexes as well as unique cluster compounds. It is also used as a biochemical for proteomics research and as a chemical and organic intermediate.
Preparation
Zirconium(IV) bromide, ZrBr4, is a colorless solid and the principal precursor to other Zr-Br compounds. ZrBr4 is
produced by the carbotherm reaction of bromine on zirconium oxide:
ZrO2 + 2C + 2Br2→ZrBr4+ 2CO
