What are the applications of Application
Tris(2-butoxyethyl) phosphate is an organic flame retardant
Definition
ChEBI: A trialkyl phosphate in which the alkyl group specified is 2-butoxyethyl.
General Description
Tris(2-butoxyethyl) phosphate is an organic flame retardant. It shows PXR agonistic activity. Tris(2-butoxyethyl) phosphate was detected and quantified during the analysis of herring gull eggs by liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization(+)-tandem mass spectrometry.
Air & Water Reactions
Water soluble.
Reactivity Profile
Organophosphates, such as Tris(2-butoxyethyl) phosphate, are susceptible to formation of highly toxic and flammable phosphine gas in the presence of strong reducing agents such as hydrides. Partial oxidation by oxidizing agents may result in the release of toxic phosphorus oxides. Tris(2-butoxyethyl) phosphate may react with oxidizers. .
Fire Hazard
Tris(2-butoxyethyl) phosphate is combustible.
Flammability and Explosibility
Non flammable
Safety Profile
A poison by intravenous route. Moderately toxic by ingestion. A skin and eye irritant. Combustible when exposed to heat or flame. Dangerous; see also PHOSPHATES; can react with oxidizing materials. To fight fire, use water, foam, CO2, dry chemical. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of POx.
