STRONTIUM HYDRIDE Structural

What is STRONTIUM HYDRIDE?

Description

Strontium Hydride, SrH2, is formed from the metal in the presence of hydrogen, under similar reaction conditions to that of calcium. Because of its great resemblance to calcium, little practical usage has evolved. It is an electronically neutral reagent chemical. In contact with water, it decomposes to form hydrogen:
SrH2+H2O→Sr(OH)2+H2
SrH2 has the same type of structure as CaH2 except that the cell parameters are: a=3.875 ?, b=6.364 ?, c=7.343 ?, α=β=γ=90°, cell volume=181.08 ?3.
