NICOTINE SALICYLATE Structural

What is NICOTINE SALICYLATE?

Chemical properties

White Crystalline Solid

The Uses of NICOTINE SALICYLATE

Nicotine Salicylate is used for treatment of smoking withdrawal syndrome.

What are the applications of Application

Nicotine Salicylate is studied for its effects on nicotine addiction and withdrawal

General Description

A white crystalline solid. Combustible. Toxic by inhalation (dust, etc.) and may be toxic by skin absorption. Produces toxic oxides of nitrogen during combustion.

Air & Water Reactions

Soluble in water

Reactivity Profile

Nicotine-An alkaloid produced from tobacco. Colorless, oily liquid, combustible, highly toxic. When heated to decomposition NICOTINE SALICYLATE emits very toxic fumes of carbon monoxide and oxides of nitrogen [Lewis, 3rd ed., 1993, p. 919].

Health Hazard

Highly toxic, may be fatal if inhaled, swallowed or absorbed through skin. Avoid any skin contact. Effects of contact or inhalation may be delayed. Fire may produce irritating, corrosive and/or toxic gases. Runoff from fire control or dilution water may be corrosive and/or toxic and cause pollution.

Fire Hazard

Non-combustible, substance itself does not burn but may decompose upon heating to produce corrosive and/or toxic fumes. Containers may explode when heated. Runoff may pollute waterways.

Safety Profile

A poison. Symptoms of exposure: extreme nausea, vomiting, evacuation of bowel and bladder, mental confusion, twitching, convulsions. Base is ready absorbed through mucous membranes and intact skin. Institute treatment immedately. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of NOx and CO. See also NICOTINE.
