What is fumitremorgin B?

Description

This tremorgenic alkaloid is highly toxic and is elaborated by Aspergillus jurnigatus. The structure given above has been determined from X-ray crystallography. The crystals are orthorhombic with space group P2 1212 1, a = 14.771, b = 24.925 and c = 7.321 A with Z = 4. The absolute configuration is based upon that of L( - )-proline formed by acid hydrolysis of the alkaloid.
