CLEAR COLOURLESS LIQUID
The Uses of Dibutyl fumarate
Dibutyl fumarate is used as a comonomer for the production of polystyrene.
The Uses of Dibutyl fumarate
Dibutyl Fumarate is a transisomer of Di-Bu maleate (DBM), which is widely used as a plasticizer for industrial application and enhances contact sensitization to fluorescein isothiocyanate in mice.
Production Methods
Dibutyl fumarate is produced by direct esterification of n-Butanol with Fumanc acid.
Flammability and Explosibility
Non flammable
Safety Profile
Poison by intraperitoneal route. Mildly toxic by ingestion and skin contact. An eye, skn, and mucous membrane irritant. Combustible when exposed to heat or flame; can react with oxidizing materials. To fight fire, use foam, CO2, dry chemical. When heated to decomposition it emits acrid smoke and fumes.
