Chemical properties
clear liquid
The Uses of Diacetin
Diacetin is used as a solvent, plasticizer, and softening agent.
The Uses of Diacetin
Diacetin has been used to design and evaluate gliclazide push-pull osmotic pump (PPOP) coated with aqueous colloidal polymer dispersions.
Definition
ChEBI: A diglyceride resulting from the formal condensation of any two of the hydroxy groups of glycerol with the carboxy groups of two molecules of acetic acid (either R1 = H and R2 = Ac, or R1 = Ac and R2 = H).
General Description
Diacetin is widely used as plasticizer.
Synthesis
Prod.:
1) from Glycerin with 2 mol. Acetic acid.
2) from AHYIacetate uith Hypoiodous acid,
followed by reaction with Potassium
acetate.
