A useful reagent for the efficient phosphorylative conversion of alcohols into their corresponding dibenzylphosphorotriesters. It is applied as a phosphitylating agent in water-soluble phosphate prodrugs of 1-propargyl-8-styrylxanthine derivatives, a2a-selective adenosine receptor antagonists.
