It has a role as a plant metabolite. It is a dihydroxyflavone and a trimethoxyflavone. It is functionally related to a quercetin. It is a conjugate acid of a 3',5-dihydroxy-3,4',7-trimethoxyflavone(1-).

Biological Activity

Ayanin is a biologically active flavonoid isolated from Croton schiedeanus Schlecht. Ayanin is a non-selective phosphodiesterase (phosphodiesterase1-4) inhibitor, which can be used in the study of respiratory diseases, such as allergic asthma.
