What is Solvent Yellow 33?

Description

Solvent Yellow 33,Lemon Yellow 6G is a light yellow shade and melt point is 240℃. It exhibits excellent light fastness and heat resistance, can be used for coloring of engineer plastics. Solvent Yellow 33 is used in cosmetic composition for application to the skin, lips, and/or body surface. In spirit lacquers, polystyrenes, polycarbonates, polyamides, and acrylic resins.

Chemical properties

Bright greenish yellow solid or canary yellow powder.

The Uses of Solvent Yellow 33

Solvent Yellow 33 is used in cosmetic composition for application to the skin, lips, and/or body surface. In spirit lacquers, polystyrenes, polycarbonates, polyamides, and acrylic resins. In colored smokes. Occasionally in hydrocarbon solvents. In externally applied drugs and cosmetics.

What are the applications of Application

Quinoline yellow is a bright yellow stain with an absorption maximum of 439 nm

Preparation

Weighing 50.0g Tetra hydro Phthalic anhydride, 9.2g common grade zinc chloride and 483g 2-toluquinoline are in the 1000mL reaction flask of its adding with mechanical stirring and air set pipe. The temperature of reaction flask is heated to rises to 240~250 ℃, and under this temperature, keep reacting in 2 hours.Reaction is down to room temperature with temperature of reaction after finishing.Filter mix products, obtain filtrate and filter cake separately.Filter cake that filtration obtains with the washing with alcohol of 50mL for several times, obtaining purity after lower dry 5 hours at 80 ℃ again is 2-(2-quinolyl)-1H-indenes-1,3 (2H)-diketone more than 95%.The weight that obtains target product is 70g, and purity is 95.5%, and yield is 76%. Comprise a small amount of product 2-(2-quinolyl) of excessive 2-toluquinoline and dissolving thereof-1H-indenes-1,3 (2H)-diketone in the filtrate that filtration obtains, filtrate is continued as next series-produced raw material, to improve the use of 2-toluquinoline. The 2-(2-quinolyl) that obtains-1H-indenes-1,3 (2H)-diketone and 2-(6-methyl-2-quinolyl)-1H-indenes-1,3 (2H)-diketone are mixed, thereby obtain solvent yellow 33.

Definition

ChEBI: Quinoline yellow is a quinoline derivative with a 1,3-dioxoindan-2-yl substituent at C-2. It has a role as a dye. It is a member of quinolines, a beta-diketone and an aromatic ketone.
