What is PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED ROSIN?
Description
Hydrogenated rosin is one of the modified rosin products. The conjugated double bond of abietic acid type resin acid in rosin is partially or completely saturated with hydrogen under catalyst, certain temperature and pressure. Rosin with partial double bonds saturated with hydrogen is called hydrogenated rosin and contains 75% of dihydroabietic acid.
Synthesis
Add rosin into an aluminum or copper pot, heat and melt and continue to heat to 180-220 ° C, add a fresh reduced nickel catalyst under stirring, and react with hydrogen, then the rosin acid can be reduced to dihydroabietic acid, and at the same time Part of the dihydroabietic acid can also be reduced to saturated tetrahydroabietic acid. The product is filtered and vacuum distilled to obtain hydrogenated rosin.
