What is Ethanol, 2-(2-bromoethoxy)-?

Description

Bromo-PEG2-alcohol is a PEG linker containing a bromide group with a terminal hydroxyl group. The hydrophilic PEG spacer increases solubility in aqueous media. The bromide (Br) is a very good leaving group for nucleophilic substitution reactions. The hydroxyl group enables further derivatization or replacement with other reactive functional groups.

The Uses of Ethanol, 2-(2-bromoethoxy)-

2-(2-Bromoethoxy)ethanol is an organic building block used in the Fe2O3-promoted intermolecular chlorotrifluoromethylthiolation of alkenes, and in the preparation of near-IR BODIPY fluorophores as intracellular pH sensors.
