What is Carpipramine?
Definition
Carpipramine is a first-generation (typical) antipsychotic drug that belongs to the iminodibenzyl class indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia, particularly for negative symptoms. It has been found that carpipramine and its pharmaceutically acceptable salts possess antagonist properties with respect to D2 and 5-HT2 receptors and are also useful in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and sleep disorders. It can induce insomnia, agitation, and extrapyramidal motor side effects, but it generally displays low toxicity.
