What is BUTYL TIGLATE?
Chemical properties
N-Butyl tiglate is a colorless liquid. B.P. 196℃.Practically insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils.
The Uses of BUTYL TIGLATE
N-Butyl tiglate was developed for use in artificial essential oils, when Tiglic and Angelic acids became commercially available.
Synthesis
N-Butyl tiglate is synthesised by direct esterification of Tiglic acid with mButanol. Certain types of commercial Tiglic acid contain substantial amounts of Angelic acid which will be esierified along with the Tiglic acid.
