2,2''-Methylenebis(4-bromophenol) can be derived from bromophenols from the red alga Odonthalia corymbifera and display potential antimicrobial activity. It is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of Albuterol Dimer (A514515) which is an impurity of the drug Albuterol used to treat asthma.
