It is used as a reactant in the preparation of [(indolyl)methyl]hydantoin and thiohydantoin derivatives as potential treatment of necroptosis. Also used as a reactant in the synthesis of pyridyl-ethenyl-indoles as potential anticancer immunomodulators.
