Reactivity Profile
3,4,6-TRICHLORO-2-NITROPHENOL reacts as a weak acid. Incompatible with strong reducing substances such as hydrides, nitrides, alkali metals, and sulfides. Flammable gas (H2) is often generated, and the heat of the reaction may ignite the gas. Heat is also generated by the acid-base reaction between phenols and bases.
Safety Profile
A poison by intravenous route.When heated to decomposition it emits toxic vapors ofNOx and Clí.
Purification Methods
Crystallise the nitro-phenol from pet ether or EtOH. [Beilstein 6 III 842.]
