2,4-Dichloroaniline is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of dyestuffs, pigments, and pesticides.

2,4-Dichloroaniline may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in water samples by ultrasound-assisted ionic liquid dispersive liquid-phase micro-extraction, capillary electrophoresis with electrochemical and fluorescence detection and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), respectively.

2,4-Dichloroaniline is used as a raw material for the synthesis of anti-infective drug ciprofloxacin, pesticide fungicide Imibenconazole, herbicide (PUMA) and dyes.
