Methyl 2-Oxo-1-pyrrolidineacetate is used a reagent in the synthesis of benzoquinolizidine and benzoindolizidine derivatives as anti-amnesic agents. It is also used as a a reagent in the synthesis of (acylamino)acridines as choline uptake enhancers.
