ChEBI: Naphthalene-1,6-diol is a naphthalenediol.
Synthesis
1,6-Naphthalenediol [575-44-0], mp 138℃, is synthesized by caustic fusion of naphthalene1,6-disulfonic acid at 330 C. It couples with diazotized anilines to form disazo and trisazo derivatives.
Purification Methods
Crystallise it from *benzene or *benzene/EtOH after treatment with charcoal. [Beilstein 6 IV 6557.]
