Description
Artemether is an artemisinin derivative that is artemisinin, in which the lactone is converted to the corresponding lactol methyl ether. It is a sesquiterpenoid, a cyclic acetal, an organic peroxide, and a semisynthetic derivative. It has a role as an antimalarial and is combined with lumefantrine to treat multi-drug resistant strains of falciparum malaria.
