PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
Description
Erythromycin belongs to a group of drugs called macrolide antibiotics. Macrolide antibiotics slow the growth of, or sometimes kill, sensitive bacteria by reducing the production of essential proteins the bacteria need to survive. Erythromycin is used to treat or prevent many infections caused by bacteria. This antibiotic treats or prevents only bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (such as the common cold and flu). Using any antibiotic when it is unnecessary can cause it to not work for future infections.
