Chlorphenamine maleate (chlorphenamine) is a first generation synthetic antihistamine. It works by blocking histamine (especially H1) and acetylcholine. It is used to relieve allergy symptoms, hay fever and the common cold. These symptoms include runny nose, watery eyes, itching and sneezing.
