PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
Description
Benzylation is an important transformation in organic synthesis. Benzyl chloride is most often used in fiber treatment. Benzyl chloride includes benzyl (C6H5C=O), which is attributed to the decreased hydrophilic nature of the treated fiber and improved interaction with the hydrophobic polymer matrix. It is also used as a chemical intermediate in the manufacture of certain dyes and pharmaceutical products and as a photographic developer.
