In 28-day incubation studies using a vegetable-growing clay loam soil, degradation of iprodione was >50% in non-sterile and <20% in sterile (autoclaved) soil(1); the results suggest that microbes were responsible for the primary disappearance in the soil(1). Similar results were found in another study in which degradation was much slower in soils treated with sodium azide, gamma irradiation, chloramphenicol or cycloheximide as compared to non-sterile soil(2).
