Satyam was founded in 1981 as a producer of Metal-based Specialty Chemicals by Navin J Khokhani. The first production facility was set up in 1982 at Rabale MIDC, Navi Mumbai in the western state of Maharashtra, India. Satyam focused on development of process and technology for manufacturing Metal-based Specialty compounds which were primarily imported into India. Production of these compounds were subsequently scaled up - thus substituting imports of these products into India. Subsequent expansions lead to creation of global scale capacities, making way for Satyam’s products to overseas markets. As a result of these initiatives of Satyam, India became a net exporter from being a net importer of these compounds.

A second 55,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility which included an ultra modern new QC instrumentation and development Lab was set up in 2016 at Patalganga MIDC (approx. 45 km from Nhava Sheva sea port) in western India. Satyam continues to focus on production of high quality Metal-based Specialty Chemicals, while continuing development of technically challenging compounds. Modernisation of its R&D set up and a new instrumentation lab with state-of-the-art facilities, have amplified Satyam’s capabilities to fortify development and widen its scope of chemistry
