Betalolo hydrochloride is a cardiac selective beta-blocker, which has no stable effect on cell membrane, so it does not affect the sensitivity of cornea. Betalolol hydrochloride has no intrinsic sympathetic activity. Oral administration of beta-blockers in normal people and patients with heart disease reduces cardiac output. But in patients with extreme cardiac dysfunction, beta-blockers inhibit the sympathetic excitation that maintains cardiac function. Increased intraocular pressure is likely to cause vision loss, and the higher the intraocular pressure is, the greater the risk of optic nerve damage and visual field loss.
By measuring intraocular pressure and fluorescence detection of aqueous humor, betalolol can reduce the formation of aqueous humor and reduce iop. The 0.25% betalor hydrochloride drops decrease the elevated iop in patients with either high iop or glaucoma. Ophthalmic betalol has minimal adverse effects on the heart and lungs.
