Sodium citrate Chemical property:
Sodium citrate, also known as sodium citrate, is white crystalline particles or powder at room temperature, odorless, cool and salty, and stable in the air. The relative density was 1.857 (23.5 ℃). The crystal water is lost at 150 ℃, and it will decompose after heating. It is soluble in water, the pH of aqueous solution is about 8, and insoluble in ethanol. Citric acid is neutralized, concentrated and crystallized with sodium hydroxide or sodium carbonate.
Sodium citrate Purpose：
- When taking fresh blood in clinic, we need to add some sterilized sodium citrate to prevent blood coagulation, so sodium citrate is called anticoagulant. In food and beverage industry, it is used as flavor agent and stabilizer; in pharmaceutical industry, it is used as anticoagulant, expectorant and diuretic; in detergent industry, it can replace sodium tripolyphosphate as non-toxic detergent additive; it is also used in brewing, injection, photographic medicine and electroplating. It is one of the basic reagents in biological experiments.
