Caprolactam is the main raw material for producing polyamide fiber and resin. Polyamide fiber is called nylon in America and nylon
in China. Because it was commercialized by Jinzhou Petrochemical at the earliest, it is called nylon. Nylon 66 is the
polycondensation product of adipic acid and hexamethylenediamine. Nylon 6 is prepared by ring-opening polymerization of
caprolactam. At present, the main technologies for mastering caprolactam production in China are Sinopec Baling Petrochemical
Design Institute and Yueyang Petrochemical Design Institute. Cyclohexanone and phenol are the main raw materials for the
production of caprolactam. Cyclohexanone is an important chemical raw material with wide application fields. It is a colorless,
odorless and transparent liquid with mint and acetone smell, which is slightly soluble in water and can be dissolved in various
organic solvents such as ether and alcohol. It is mainly used as an intermediate of caprolactam, adipic acid and its salts.
Because of its strong solubility, low toxicity and relatively low price, it is widely used as solvent and diluent for various
coatings, paints, inks and resins, polishing agent and diluent for leather processing, solvent for coating photosensitive and
magnetic recording materials, etc. At the same time, some downstream derivatives can be prepared, such as
cyclohexanone-formaldehyde resin, peroxycyclohexanone, o-methylphenol, antioxidant 4010 and so on.
