What is Vat Red 14?

Preparation

(a) in the Acetic acid glacial or Pyridine solution heating ?Benzene-1,2-diamine?and Naphthalene-1,4,5,8-tetracarboxylic acid?mixture (when using Acetic acid glacial solvent, product of trans-isomer larger proportion); (b), Naphthalene-1,4,5,8-tetracarboxylic acid?and 2-Nitrobenzenamine heating, and then will nitrocellulose reduction, and cyclization, (c) with Benzene-1,2-diamine?(2 Moore) deal with N, N’-diaryl -1,4,5,8 – naphthoate carboximide. Note: cis and trans structure for about 40 ~ 45%. And 60 ~ 55%

Properties and Applications

dark yellow red. Orange powder. Insoluble in water, soluble in 2 – Chlorophenol, slightly soluble in hot Chloroform and Pyridine , not soluble in Acetone, Etanol and Toluene. In concentrated sulfuric acid for yellow brown. Alkaline reduction leuco for olive; Acid reduction leuco with green fluorescent blue. Used for cotton fabric dyeing, for the dark yellow red. To cotton affinity is high, good levelness, to dead cotton covering power is very good. Used for cotton fabric of direct, resist and discharge printing.
