What is TRIISOBUTYLENE?
General Description
A colorless liquid. Insoluble in water and less dense than water. Flash point near 100°F. Vapors heavier than air. Used to make rubber products, oil additives and motor fuels.
Air & Water Reactions
Highly flammable. Insoluble in water.
Reactivity Profile
TRIISOBUTYLENE may react vigorously with strong oxidizing agents. May react exothermically with reducing agents to release hydrogen gas. In the presence of various catalysts (such as acids) or initiators, may undergo exothermic addition polymerization reactions.
Health Hazard
May be harmful by inhalation, ingestion or absorption. May cause eye and skin irritation.
Fire Hazard
Special Hazards of Combustion Products: Emits toxic fumes upon decomposition.
