Salvigenin is a neuroprotective agent used in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases acting through oxidative stress on cells.

Definition

ChEBI: Salvigenin is a trimethoxyflavone that is scutellarein in which the hydroxy groups at positions 4', 6, and 7 are replaced by methoxy groups. It has a role as an autophagy inducer, an apoptosis inhibitor, an antilipemic drug, an immunomodulator, an antineoplastic agent, a neuroprotective agent, a hypoglycemic agent and a plant metabolite. It is a trimethoxyflavone and a monohydroxyflavone. It is functionally related to a scutellarein.
