What is QDs?
The Uses of QDs
The amine functionalized CdS/ZnS or CdSe/ZnS quantum dots (QDs) find applications in bioimaging and biosensing. The three main conjugation approaches reported in literature are conjugation using glutaraldehyde as a linker, conjugations with carboxylic acid containing molecules by using 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl) carbodiimide (EDC) coupling, and direct conjugation with isothiocyanates bearing molecules.
The Uses of QDs
The organic layer of the CdS/ZnS or CdSe/ZnS quantum dots (QDs) with carboxylic acid as reactive group consist of a monolayer of oleic acid/octadecylamine and a monolayer of amphiphilic polymer. The total thickness of organic layers on these QDs is approximately 4 nm. They find many applications in bioimaging and biosensing.
The Uses of QDs
Amphiphilic polymer or polydiallydimethylammonium chloride (PDDA) coated CdS/ZnS or CdSe/ZnS quantum dots (QDs) do not contain any linkable reactive group on the surface and exhibit a zeta potential of more than +50 mV. These positively charged QDs find applications in cell tracking.
