What is Ipodate Sodium?
The Uses of Ipodate Sodium
Ipodate Sodium is used as a safe and effacacious treatment for hyperthyroidism, reducing serum T4 and T3 levels to normal amounts.
The Uses of Ipodate Sodium
Diagnostic aid (radiopaque medium).
Definition
ChEBI: Ipodate Sodium is a monocarboxylic acid and a member of benzenes.
brand name
Bilivist (Berlex); Oragrafin Sodium (Bracco).
Veterinary Drugs and Treatments
Ipodate may be useful in some cats for the medical treatment of hyperthyroidism when methimazole (or carbimazole) cannot be tolerated. Because it uses a different mechanism of action than methimazole, ipodate may, potentially, be useful in reducing methimazole dosages (and hence toxicity).
