What is ALLYL DECANOATE?
Chemical properties
ALLYL DECANOATE is a colorless liquid. B. P.230° C. Sp.Gr. 0.89. Insoluble in water, miscible with alcohol, essential oils and flavor chemicals. Banana-Pineapple type odor, somewhat fatty-sweet and powerful without being pungent. Very sweet, fruity taste, slightly fatty with an initial sharpness reminiscent of Pineapple notes.
The Uses of ALLYL DECANOATE
ALLYL DECANOATE Rarely used in perfumes. Occasionally used in flavors as a modifier and volume-increasing fixative in Banana and Pineapple imitation. It blends well with Allyl caproate and AllYl caprylate, Ethyl decanoate, Ethyl heptoate, Nonanolide, etc. Produced by direct esterificatiorr of Allyl alcohol with Decanoic acid, under azeotropic conditions (starter-catalyst).
