Description

1-Triacontanol is a straight-chain C30 primary alconol. Also known as melissyl alcohol and myricyl alcohol, it occurs naturally as its palmitate ester in plant cuticle waxes and beeswax. Its lab synthesis was first reported in 1934. Its only commercial use is as a plant growth regulator, and it has been widely patented for this use.
