C16-18:1 PC or 1-O-hexadecyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine may be used in the liposome binding assay. It may also be used as a lipid standard for quantification of glycerophosphocholine by liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC–MS).
The Uses of 1-HEXADECYL-2-OLEOYL-SN-GLYCERO-3-PHOSPHORYLCHOLINE
C16-18:1 PC or 1-O-hexadecyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine may be used: as a lipid standard for quantification of glycerophosphocholine by liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC–MS), in preparation of phospholipid vesicles, as a substrate to study the substrate specificity of phospholipase B/lipase (PLB/LIP) in the presence and absence of deoxycholate (DOC).
Definition
ChEBI: 1-O-hexadecyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine is a phosphatidylcholine (O-16:0/18:1) in which the alkyl and the acyl groups at positions 1 and 2 are hexadecyl and oleoyl respectively. It is functionally related to an oleic acid and a lysophosphatidylcholine O-16:0/0:0.
General Description
C16-18:1 PC, also called as 1-O-hexadecyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (HOPC), is a member of platelet-activating factor (PAF) family of glycerophospholipids. HOPC is a mono-ether PC containing ester-linked 18:1 chain (oleoyl) at the sn-2 position and an ether-linked 16:0 chain (hexadecyl) at the sn-1 position.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Platelet-activating factor (PAF), a lipid mediator acts as a pro-inflammatory agent that exhibits variety of biological and pharmacological effects.
