  • As a solvent for separating azeotropic mixture of 2-propanol and water.
  • To study the activity of electrode materials for the electrocatalytic oxygen reduction (ORR) and oxygen evolution (OER) reactions in Mg-air batteries.
  • As a lubricant for gears and machines.

1-n-Butyl-1-methylpyrrolidinium bis (trifluoromethylsulfonyl) imide is useful for electrodeposition. It is also used in energy storage in lithium batteries and in super capacitors. Further, it is employed in organic synthesis.
