PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
Description
Indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) is the most common auxin-class phytohormone and plays vital roles in plant growth and development processes, such as cell division, cell expansion, cell differentiation and fruit development. IAA homeostasis is essential for maintaining the hormonal balance at an optimum level suitable for normal plant growth and development. However, high levels of IAA can exert an inhibitory effect on plant physiological processes. Several studies have reported that IAA at high concentrations inhibits seed germination and plant growth. The inhibition scenario is caused by ethylene production due to aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid synthase (ACC synthase) activity stimulated by high levels of auxin accumulation, which results in an ethylene burst that causes plant growth abnormalities and senescence.
