It has been isolated from the mycelia of the fungus Cordyceps sinensis. It has a role as a plant metabolite, a phytoestrogen and a fungal metabolite. It is a methoxyisoflavone and a 7-hydroxyisoflavone. It is functionally related to an isoflavone.
